 The holy city of Ajmer is enveloped by the Aravali Mountain range which is the reason for the enchanting and serene aura it enjoys. Ajmer has been the home of several dynasties since its inception in seventh century AD. The city was founded by the great Chauhan ruler Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan but was lost at the hands of Prithvi Raj Chauhan to Mohamed Ghauri in 1193 AD.
The holy city of Ajmer has been a living place for the rulers of Delhi Sultanate, the great Mughals, Scindias and the British before it was finally merged into the Indian union at the time of Independence. Ajmer is a melting pot of cultures and has been nurtured by all its rulers.

 Lying in the north of the desert State, the city is dotted with scores of sand dunes. Bikaner retains the medieval grandeur that permeates the city's lifestyle. More readily called the camel country, the city is distinguished for the best riding camels in the world and hence boasts of having one of the largest Camel Research and Breeding farms in the world.
The ship of the desert is an inseparable part of life here. A camel besides being a mode of transport, also works on wells. These are built on high plinths with slender minarets on each of the four corners and can be noticed even from a distance. |

 The history of Bharatpur dates back to the epic age, when the Matsya Kingdom flourished here in the 5th century BC The matsya were allies of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata war. According to tradition the name of Bharatpur is traced to Bharat, the brother of lord Rama of Ayodhya whose other brother Laxman was given the high place of family deity of the ruling family of Bharatpur. His name also appears in the state seals and coat-of-arms.
Bharatpur is also called the Eastern gateway of Rajasthan. Maharaja Suraj Mal. Apart from being a brave General was also a great builder. He built numerous forts and palaces across the kingdom including the Pleasure Palace complex at Deeg. Bharatpur is today known the world over for its Keoladeo Ghana National Park. |

 The Jaipur city is believed to be one of the first planned cities in India of the medieval era. The characteristic rose colored sandstone architecture has earned the capital of Rajasthan the name of Pink city. The heritage city of India is nearly 260 km away from Delhi the capital of India. Jaipur literally means the city of victory and was constructed by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727.
The city of t by Shaspati (Hindu priest architect) Vidyadhar Bhattacharya of Bengal. The increasing population of Amber and water scarcity motivated Raja Sawai Jai Singh II to plan a new capital of Jaipur in the plains. The walled city is built by Guru Vidyadhar in a grid system. Nine rectangle shaped city spheres, laid out in broad, spruced up roads comprises the avant-garde architectural framework of Jaipur. |

Mount Abu is known for its scenic beauty and is the lone hill station in the Desert state of Rajasthan. The city of Mount Abu is a pilgrim for people of many sects as several temples are found here. The world famous Dilwara Jain temples are situated in this city and are the crowning glory of this hill station.
Many hermits and sages have also spent their time in this pristine city; one such saint was Guru Vashisht who performed a yagya here and at that place now stands the Gaumukh temple.
